Realme X7 Series smartphone with MediaTek Dimension 800U chipset will be launched in India soon.

The India Mobile Congress 2020, MediaTek announced the launch of the Dimension 800U 5G chipset in India. The 7nm MediaTek Dimension 800U chipset connects to the Dimension 1000+ which was introduced in the country a while back. Realme X7 and X7 Pro will be the first such devices in India to be powered by Dimension 800U and Dimension 1000+ SoCs respectively.

The Dimensity 800U supports 5G + 5G dual SIM standby technology, sub-6GHz SA and NSA networks, dual Voice over New Radio (VoNR) and 5G two carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA). The octa-core chipset comes with dual clusters comprising of two ARM Cortex-A76 processor clocked at 2.4GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 processors with a clock speed of 2GHz. The chipset is coupled with Mali-G57 GPU and has support for LPDDR4 RAM, UFS 2.2 storage, and an independent AI processing unit.

The MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC supports FHD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10, and MediaTek MiraVision PQ engine with HDR optimisation. The chipset supports 64MP cameras and quad-cameras. It has an integrated APU and ISP to offer AI camera enhancements. The chipset supports voice over walkup (VoW) and dual-mic noise cancellation technology. It is claimed to reduce power consumption in addition to the voice assistant and allows clear sound to be heard despite external noise interruptions.

The MediaTek Dimension 800U also comes with UltraSave technology, where the modem's operating mode is managed based on the network environment and data transmission quality. This is said to extend the battery life of mobile devices. The chipset claims to have 11 percent faster CPU performance and 28 percent faster GPU performance than Demand 720.

MediaTek says that the smartphones powered by the Dimension 800U will be launched in January 2021 and the Realme X7 will be the first phone to bring a chipset to India. The Realme X7 has been launched in China and packs a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC, 8GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, 64MP quad cameras, and 65W fast charging, among other things.
